A loved one's ego

A song I once heard painted this story for me...People who read it think its a sad story..but for me..
its a story about love and hope-

It’s autumn….with the winter just ahead. Its windy…and the wind-maiden on her way… gently
teases the russet colored leaves and they giggle and dance as if tickled.
You see a beautiful pathway…and a lake not so far away..with beautiful blue
mountains in the background…the silence peaceful and soothing.

Then you see the girl…tall, curly-haired...forlorn. She stands there gazing….her eyes full of
hope-she is waiting for her beloved. She loves to go on long walks…they give her time with herself
to remember everything about him. She remembers the way he laughed…and she smiles at the memory;
the way he held her…his breath on her face..and the way he made her feel. She remembers the times
spent near the lake..gazing at the mountains…with him beside her..playing with her curls..lazy afternoons
spent boating on the lake…when his laughter echoed..and she would pick up each echo…and collected them as souvenirs.
She looks at the far way mountains and she is glad she is alive…to witness such beauty and bask in her lover’s memory…

There is a fire burning…the room is warm…its cozy.she stands by the window and looks at the photo frame…the
intense eyes staring back at her…she touches the photo and closes her eyes…and almost feel his touch on her cheek.
She opens her eyes..to wipe away the tear on her cheek…

There is a letter…says he will be home soon..she looks outside..its already winter..but to her
it feels more colorful than spring! She joins the children outside who are pelting snow balls at each other!
she falls on the snow…and laughs!

He came home… 25 years ago and that long autumn and cold cold winter spent alone is just a far away memory.
She is alone again...he died telling
her he loves her.She still walks to the lake,to listen to those echos in her mind but she misses him no more.
She just looks forward to the day she can join him again.
